The Activator Agent (TaskSwitch) - ActivatorDesk may be used as a stand-alone advanced internet desktop with no security features engaged or it may be used with its powerful security system. If the Windows desktop is turned off entirely, then the above desktop TaskSwitch ( Start Button Replacement ) appears. It stays on top and may be dragged anywhere on the desktop using the mouse. So now you can place your Start Button where you want it, even on top of the programs you run!
The Activator Agent program is also on a mission to deliver safe and secure Internet and Windows desktops. The program loads at booting of Windows with a tray icon. (see above right) Its menu system may be used to essentially replace the Start button in Windows. In fact, the Start button may be disabled entitrely by security settings. In addition, its a Real-Time Task Manager! Displayed on the menu, (see at right) are current programs running as tasks, so one may instantly switch programs in a single click on the menu! You can even end non-responding programs by right-clicking the application on the 'Running Tasks part of this menu!
Security settings for individual user accounts are maintained or administered by the ActivatorDesk Administrator program used seperately. The Agent program receives direction from these settings to enforce desktop security essentially 'locking down' Windows desktops in a personalized fashion because all desktop database settings are 'aligned' with the current Windows logged in user!
When loaded the Agent monitors programs loaded and polices the PC. It intercepts and blocks programs that are not permitted for use. It records to the database programs run, their version information, and their unique file 'signature'. The file signature is very important, because even if files are cleverly renamed in attempts to defeat security, they are still recognized and appropriately blocked. ActivatorDesk Agent is the first and only program to provide this security feature.
Important Note: Activator Agent may block common browser programs automatically. This includes Internet Explorer and Netscape and even Windows File Explorer (which otherwise may be used to browse). The ActivatorDesk desktop browser is then used, or handed exclusive control of all internet browsing so safe browsing environments may then be controlled. Internet Explorer and Netscape and common browser programs do not deliver these safety and security features and thus may not be used for these purposes.
When safe browsing features or filters are engaged, then a similar blocking message is delivered as above. If the page is a candidate for use in safe-browsing in InfoGrid, it may be submitted to be included in the safe portal links listings. To view this blocking message page click Viewing Restricted Page
Windows Crash Recovery - ActivatorDesk Agent not only monitors desktop activity, but also monitors the Windows desktop itself. If the Windows desktop crashes or unloads, the Agent will attempt to reload and restore the desktop.
Desktop Icon Transparent Background - ActivatorDesk Agent makes your desktop more attractive by making icon text on the desktop transparent. Desktop icons may be turned off entirely by the Administrator if desired.

The above menu will occur from either a single right or left mouse button click upon the tray icon.
To launch Programs, use this menu to load and run ActivatorDesk and utilize the 'Launch Bar' to run any programs that are desired. For details on this process click Run Programs
Note: The tray icon of the ActivatorDesk Agent is a large bright color. This provides for easy clicking for the above menu selections, but also serves an administrative purpose. This highly visible icon can be viewed, even at great distance, so an administrator, educator, or parent, may visually confirm that ActivatorDesk security is operating.
Important Note: In Win95/98/Me it is important to always shutdown your desktops using Agent if you are running it. This properly closes the desktop database before shutting down the PC otherwise minor errors may occur if the Windows Start button is used. This is not an issue in NT4/2000/XP.
